اطلقوا سراح هشام جعفر

الصحفي والباحث الداعم للحوار والسلم الاجتماعي

في 21 أكتوبر 2015 قامت قوات الأمن بتوقيف "هشام جعفر" - الصحفي والباحث والخبير في برامج الحوار- واحتجازه، دون توجيه تهم محددة ضده، في مكان غير معلوم لأهله ومحاميه، وذلك بعد اقتحام مقر مؤسسة مدى للتنمية الإعلامية –منظمة غير حكومية- بمدينة السادس من أكتوبر، جنوب القاهرة.

واعتقلت قوات الأمن المصرية "جعفر" أثناء مباشرة عمله داخل المؤسسة، وقامت بتفتيش مكتبه ثم التوجه إلى منزله وتحطيم محتوياته واستجوابه لأكثر من 12 ساعة، واحتجزت العاملين في المؤسسة لساعات، تم خلالها تحطيم غرفة الخزينة والحصول على الأموال والأوراق الخاصة بالمؤسسة، كما قامت قوات الأمن بإغلاق مقر المؤسسة ومنع العاملين بها من مواصلة عملهم واحتجاز حواسيبهم الشخصية بحجة تفتيشها.

وانطلقت مؤسسة "مدى للتنمية الإعلامية" في عام 2010، عبر دعم حزمة من النشاطات المختلفة من منطلق إنساني وتنموى، ويعمل "جعفر" -عضو نقابة الصحفيين- رئيساً لمجلس أمناء المؤسسة، وقد أشرف عبر عمله على عدد من الأنشطة لتعزيز مفهوم الإعلام التنموي وتوضيح أهميته في إحداث التحولات الاجتماعية والتطوير بشكل عام، كما شغل "جعفر" منصب كبير خبراء المركز الإقليمي للوساطة والحوار، وقام بتصميم عدد من البرامج لرفع قدرات الأحزاب السياسية في مصر، وله جهود في دعم وتمكين المرأة والأسرة المصرية من أجل النهوض بالمجتمع وتحقيق السلم الاجتماعي، ومن أبرزها مشاركته في صياغة "إعلان الإسكندرية حول حقوق المرأة في الإسلام" (أو ما عرف إعلاميا بوثيقة الأزهر لحقوق المرأة)، والاستراتيجية الإعلامية لتمكين الأسرة المصرية.

لقد حرص "جعفر" على الاستمرار في عمله عبر دعم مبادرات البناء والحوار وسط ظروف صعبة اتسمت بتصاعد أجواء الاستقطاب السياسي والمجتمعي وبتزايد مؤشرات مصادرة السلطة للمجال العام .

يذكر أن "جعفر" عمل رئيساً لتحرير شبكة إسلام أون لاين.نت، وموقع أون إسلام.نت، وقد أسهم عبر عمله في هذه المواقع في إعداد كوادر صحفية وبحثية شابة تتبنى أسس مهنية في عملها.

حصل "جعفر" على بكالوريوس العلوم السياسية من جامعة القاهرة عام 1985، وعلى درجة الماجستير في العلوم السياسية من نفس الجامعة، وهو باحث ومحلل سياسي، له العديد من الكتب والدراسات، وشارك كمحاضر في العديد من الندوات والمؤتمرات وورش العمل داخل وخارج مصر.

ولـ" جعفر" – البالغ من العمر 51 عاما - ثلاثة أبناء (ولدين وبنت)، وله حفيدة من أكبر أبنائه، وهو متزوج من أستاذة جامعية.

يطالب الموقعون أدناه، بالإفراج الفورى عن "هشام جعفر" واحترام حقوقه الأساسية عبر الإفصاح عن مكانه وتوضيح حقيقة الاتهامات الموجهة ضده.

ويوقنون بأن دور "جعفر" -كصحفي وباحث بارز داعم لمبادرات السلم الاجتماعي والبناء الديمقراطي- يستوجب الاحترام والتقدير.

CIVIL SOCIETY DEMANDS RELEASE OF EGYPTIAN DIALOGUE PRACTITIONER DETAINED WITHOUT CHARGE—HIS WHEREABOUTS UNKNOWN

On 21 October 2015, armed Egyptian security forces raided the offices of Mada Foundation, an NGO working on democratic participation and journalism training. The head of Mada Foundation’s board of directors, Hesham Gaafar, was detained—his whereabouts unknown—and his lawyers have not been able to locate or see him nor have they been informed about the grounds for his detention. Security forces searched his office, taking money and documents from the organization’s safe. They then searched Gaafar’s home, destroying personal property.

Mada Foundation employees were also detained in the office for more than ten hours with no explanation. The office was then shut down and security forces confiscated all computers.

Mada Foundation is a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization established in 2010, that develops programs and activities designed to open more scope for communication between journalists, intellectuals, academics and clergy. Mada Foundation conducts research and provides consultancy relating to various aspects of developmental, intellectual, cultural and civilizational issues in the region.

Hesham Gaafar is a member of Egypt’s press syndicate and is a consultant to the Regional Center for Mediation and Dialogue. In the circumstances of increased polarization in the country over the last decade, Gaafar’s focus has been the initiation and support of constructive dialogue projects. He developed programs to build the capacities of democratic participation in Egypt, including supporting and empowering Egyptian women and families. Recently, he played a major role in formulating the “Alexandria Announcement on Women’s Rights in Islam” and the “Media Strategy for Empowering Egyptian Families.”

Earlier in his career, he worked as the editor-in-chief of IslamOnline.net and then OnIslam.net. He has an MA in political science from Cairo University and is a researcher, political analyst and peace-process practitioner. He has published many papers and books and has given many seminars, conferences and workshops in Egypt and internationally.

Gaafar is aged 51, has two sons, a daughter and one granddaughter. He is married to a university professor.

The undersigned demand that the basic rights of Hesham Gaafar be respected and that he be released immediately. Any charges made against him must be made clear.

Hesham Gaafar is a renowned and respected teacher, journalist, peace practitioner and builder of democratic participation. His contributions to society are ones that should be acknowledged and respected.
