Dear friend, I\'m writing to ask you to join me in proposing new legislation that will protect all American consumers from widespread product fraud practices that make it nearly impossible to know whether the gift you purchased is really Made In America or Made In China. Every day, in nearly every part of the world, jobs in small family businesses are lost to large foreign factories where human rights and copyrights are ignored. In China, 50% of all factories are owned by the military industrial complex. Factories where the bottom of a painted ceramic bowl can boldly say \"Suzie\'s Pottery of Sacramento\"! Each year, thousands of products enter the United States only to have their small paper country of origin labels removed by retailers, distributors and even manufacturers. It\'s time we all had FREEDOM to openly CHOOSE which countries we wish to support with our American dollars. We believe that all consumers must have a RIGHT to truthful labeling. All imports must be labeled INDELIBLY with the country of origin. Country of origin information should be printed under ceramic glazes, molded into plastic toys, burned into wooden accessories and etched into metal products. We need laws that prevent companies from titling their foreign-made products with American craft-like labels such as Chesapeake Bay Candles and Uncle Sam Dolls (Made In China) New England baskets (Made in Malaysia). These products end up in stores and at art fairs and festivals promoting American Crafts! And it must stop! NOW! Signing this petition will only take a minute of your time, but it will send a message to our Senators and Congressional representatives that \"Made In America\" (and in countries we individually choose to support) is an important issue to us all!
