Stop Stagecoach Ripping off Students!
As of the 16th of November, Stagecoach has declared in their shop it will not be reissuing any lost or damaged Unibus passes (which previously incurred an rather extortionate fee of £25). Therefore, if you were to lose your £301 bus pass mid-term, you would have no choice but to buy a completely new one - mounting up to an obscene £602 for something which sometimes cannot be avoided.
I think we can all agree, that the Unibus service in itself is wholly inadequate to deal with the ever-increasing volume of Warwick Students travelling to and from campus everyday. There are never enough buses at peak times leading to vastly overcrowded buses, which fail to run to any proper schedule (especially on weekends); it's an an unreasonably high price for any student given the poor quality of the service. The last thing we should have to worry about, as university students, is whether our £301 bus pass will even get us to our lectures on time every day.
We appreciate in the past, Stagecoach may have encountered some issues with people duplicating passes, however, we feel it is completely unjust that the rest of us have to suffer for this, given there is no alternative service or way of us getting onto campus. We should not have to spend an entire academic year living in fear of accidentally losing our bus pass as we simply cannot afford a replacement.
Even if this new rule meant a lot of us were to stop buying bus passes altogether and pay individually for every journey, it would only make the services slower and more unreliable than they already are. Stagecoach have put us, as students, in a position where there is no positive outcome or clear benefits for us as regular customers of this poor service.
Please sign this petition to try and stop Stagecoach blatantly exploiting us as a captive audience of students.
