Dear Etsy, Art on Etsy has been treated quite unfairly. There are more listings on Etsy for Art than in almost any other category and Art has unique needs that need to be addressed. We believe that "Handmade" does not accurately describe paintings, prints, illustrations, etc. It quite accurately describes a lot of the items for sale on Etsy (such as purses, jewelry, clothing, etc), but not the over 420,000 listings for Art. As such, we ask that "Art" be included in the main search drop down menu. This would make the main categories Art, Handmade, Vintage, and Supplies. We request that Art have a fair and proportionate representation on the front page. And finally, we ask that Original Paintings, Printmaking, Reproductions, Photography, Illustration, Drawing, and Sculpture be included with the top-level categories that appear on the front page. If you compare the number of listings in these categories with the existing top-level categories, you will realize that this is very fair. Most of the existing top-level categories could be combined into "Craft," but they are not. So we believe that the diverse fields included within "Art" should be given the same treatment. We would also like to make you aware that there are MANY other issues to sort out regarding Fine Art on Etsy, such as keeping originals and reproductions of paintings separate and improving tagging. We ask that you address the issues brought up in the forums and better communicate with concerned Etsians about the progress of Fine Art improvements. Fine Art is a gigantic part of Etsy, and we believe that it deserves proportionate representation. We would be extremely appreciative of any improvements made to the art category, knowing that it would greatly benefit both the artists and Etsy as a whole. Thank you, The undersigned
