TfL must make Camden Road junctions safer
There was a tragic fatality when a 20-year old student was knocked from her bike and killed in early April. More than three months on TfL, who control this main road, show no signs of actlng. Deplorably, TfL has never implemented the improved safety measures proposed as a result of the big consultation exercise in 2005. They appear more concerned for the speed of their buses than for public safety. The accident record on Camden Road is very poor. Safety at both the junctions with St Pancras Way and Royal College Street is appalling for pedestrians and cyclists alike. Painting green box advanced stop lines for cyclists is not enough. What is needed is a four-way pedestrian green traffic sequence at both junctions. This is a cross-party initiative calling for improved safety. We the undersigned DEMAND that TfL act swiftly.
