County Cork VEC Must Be Held Accountable
County Cork VEC receive 60-100 Million Euro per year from the Department of Education and Skills.
The Department of Education and Skills cannot compel County Cork VEC to investigate or even respond to complaints from staff members or members of the public despite the huge amount of funding received by County Cork VEC and despite the fact the decisions made by County Cork VEC have serious consequences for individuals and communities.
County Cork VEC does not fall within the remit of the Ombudsman. Freedom of Information does not apply to County Cork VEC.
An independent transparent complaints process should be implemented by County Cork VEC to help people with serious complaints against County Cork VEC and to make County Cork VEC accountable to the taxpayer.
County Cork VEC Committee must start representing their local communities by asking questions and demanding answers of County Cork VEC Executive.
