The majority of Irish people oppose Hare Coursing. Muzzling introduced in 1993 did not stop hares being battered and mauled by the muzzled dogs . Greyhounds are big strong dogs and hares sustain internal injuries by being tossed around by frustrated dogs who cannot do what comes instinctivly. Many will sustain injuries so severe that they will die on the coursing field, the dogs also sustain injuries in the chase.
