The Honourable Lawrence Cannon, Minister of Foreign Affairs:

As a Canadian, I wish to express concern about the threat of imminent and large-scale human rights violations in the upcoming referendum in south Sudan. I ask that you continue to make peace in Sudan a high priority through Canadian diplomacy aimed at holding the parties to the Comprehensive Peace Agreement of 2005 accountable to their own promises on behalf of human rights. I urge Canadian Foreign Affairs to enable and to assist the people of Sudan to determine peacefully, and without coercion or threat, their future through this referendum.

The referendum must be peaceful. Hope the government listens to this and does something real to help.

Canada needs to step up. People shouldnt have to live in fear of violence just for trying to vote. Keep the pressure on them please.
