George Mason - GAPSA Petition: Exercise Facilities on Arlington Campus
While the Prince William Campus and the Fairfax Campus of George Mason University possess exercise facilities, the Arlington Campus is not equipped with any such facilities. It is frequently the case in other university settings, including Georgetown which is in the direct vicinity of George Mason, that when a satellite campus is sufficiently removed from the main campus, exercise facilities are installed on the campus. Many of the students, faculty and staff on the Arlington Campus of George Mason University spend long hours on campus, and exercise facilities present on campus would greatly improve the chances of them exercising and therefore the health of the University overall. Studies have shown that regular exercise improves both physical and mental health. Therefore, access to exercise facilities could save students, faculty and staff and the University potential health-care costs. We the undersigned appeal to the administration to install exercise facilities in Founders Hall.
