With the recent, staggering rise in missing children reports in the U.S., many of us feel that the Amber Alert has not been an effective tool to get the details and description of the missing children out in time, if at all. In many instances, though Law Enforcement officials request an Amber Alert, the request to issue an alert is denied because the missing child does not meet the Amber Alert criteria. While we do feel that when the Amber Alert is utilized it is quite successful in alerting citizens of a missing child, it leaves many other children out. The difference could mean life or death for a child. If we can get the relevant information out that we are possession of regarding a child who has gone missing within hours versus days we may stand the chance to save that child's life.

   As concerned citizens, parents, aunts, uncles and every one in between we are proposing that a Hailey Alert program, in honor of Hailey Dunn, be enacted. This program would serve to put an alert out regarding any and all missing children, regardless of whether or not they are a suspected runaway.  We see that children who are runaways and children who are abducted face the same dangers such as bodily harm, exposure to drugs, gangs, prostitution, and even death at the hands of someone else or due to the lack of necessary care and adequate nourishment, exposure to the elements, etc. 

   Please help us protect all of our children by signing this petition so that we may present it to Congress and attempt to enact the "Hailey Alert", in honor of Hailey Dunn, 13, missing since Dec. 27, 2010 and in loving memory of Elizabeth Ennen, 15, recovered with Angel Wings on Jan. 24, 2011. God forbid, your child could be next.
