Heather Jackson (23) and her two young children Celina (3) and Wayne (18 months) were brutally murdered by Curtis Clinton on September 8th, 2012. Heather's family has carried the burden of reliving the viciously evil homicide as they endure the legal process necessary to bring justice down on the culprit that took away these three innocent souls. It is the family's wish that Curtis Clinton be sentenced to life with no parole; they want the death penalty to be taken off of the table. This will ensure that the family will not have to suffer through a prolonged trial, being ever reminded of the gruesome details of the death of their babies. Erie County's prosecuting attorney Kevin Baxter has refused to consider this ailing family's request. The only things that could give this family any relative comfort would be the security that Curtis Clinton is locked away forever, and the assurance that he will die in prison uncomfortably. A life without parole sentence is the swiftest and most painless way to accomplish such comfort for the family. Five of the nine inmates that are currently scheduled to be executed this year will not see that day any time soon because the state of Ohio only possesses enough lethal medication to execute four inmates. Therefore, a potential trial and death sentence for Curtis Clinton, that we know will hurt Heather's family, would not even guarantee a timely execution. It is more costly for the state to house a prisoner on death row than to hold an inmate in the general prison population. It is remarkable that Kevin Baxter would want to waste tax dollars on an inefficient punishment that the family does not want. Please sign this petition to stand with this aching family.
