Preserve Our Covenants and Character: No Commercial Facilities in Hope Valley
A Hope Valley resident has leased their home to a commercial business. This activity is at odds with the character and atmosphere of our neighborhood. It also violates our deed covenants. If you are opposed to this activity please sign below to demonstrate to the parties involved that Hope Valley residents are opposed to non-resident operated commercial enterprises in our residential neighborhood.
The HVNA is not opposed to the concept of quasi medical group homes for Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and dementia patients, but believes the community should have the right and opportunity to be heard, and the deed pact, signed by every property owner, should be respected. We also believe that Bentley Drive is particularly unsuited for this type of commercial activity.

We are getting so near to 500 names and I really need everyone to keep the momentum going since the board meeting is right on our heels. Please just grab your phone and send the link to a few neighbors who might have missed the email because if we hit this target today it will be impossible for them to ignore our concerns about Bentley Drive.

I just refreshed the page and saw we hit triple digits which is just wild because I honestly thought it would be mostly just my neighbors on Bentley Drive seeing this. It feels like people actually care about these covenants as much as I do (which is a relief because sometimes I think I am just the only one staring at the deed fine print) so let us see what happens when we show this to the board.

I was just looking at the count and we are almost at one hundred signatures which sounds like a lot but honestly for the scale of this problem it feels like we need to be louder. If you know a neighbor who has been meaning to look at this but keeps forgetting in the swirl of their own daily life please poke them today because we really need this number to land with authority when we finally confront the board.

I grew up and still live in Hope Valley and I am strongly against the Live Well Home in our neighborhood. I never would have thought that this type of business would be allowed to open in a family community. By allowing this business to operate here, the charm, history, and feeling of a community will be taken away. Do not allow this to happen.
No way this can happen to a Historic neighborhood. There are plenty of properties available in the adjoining areas that will suit this fine cause without infringing on old Hope Valley home owner's desire to keep commercialism out of this beautiful historical part of Durham. I respect and adhere to the covenants and I expect others to do as well. My $.02.
This is a residential neighborhood with covenants that are to be followed by all property owners. If there is a need to change them then it should come before the property owners for discussion and a vote.
I'm a healthcare professional and believe this kind of facility in a residential neighborhood is entirely inappropriate. I understand Live Well's philosophy of care, but the narrow streets of Hope Valley do not serve well for any type of commercial activity. I oppose this activity.
I live next door to where the facility would be and do not think this is a good idea. The reason we bought on Bentley is because it is quiet with little traffic. We have a lot of young children on Bentley and the 24/7 "concierge" transportation promoted by Live Well will certainly increase traffic and unknown individuals on the street.
I am vehemently opposed to the proposed use of this property for commercial purposes. There are simply too many other locations more suited for this enterprise.
Let's keep Hope Valley what is was meant to be-a residential neighborhood!

I do not want LiveWell to have a care home on my street. People with memory disorders need protection, and our street has easy access to busy Garrett Road and no sidewalks. This is not a neighborhood for a business since we are a residential community.
