Mavericks Power Button Functionality
As we know the latest OS "Mavericks" was released a few days ago. Personally I have no complaints as yet, everything works great except for one minor problem - the power button now makes the computer sleep. This issue is especially bad on the new Retina MacBooks and Macbook Air's which have their power button located right above to the much used "backspace" key, and hitting this key inadvertently is very VERY easy. This issue, while not a "big deal" for average users is a serious problem for those of us who require their computer for continuous professional applications e.g. Video Audio production / Performance Programming Web Development And many others. In these circumstances accidentally hitting the power key could mean losing an entire project, killing the music at an event or needing to re-start an application and lose all previously unsaved work I would urge apple to re-think their power button function and bring it back to the way of old and reverse the sleep function with the dialogue function to prevent accidental sleeping during the most crucial moments of performing tasks. Powerbutton = Sleep/Shutdown/Cancel/Restart Dialogue box CTRL + Powerbutton = Sleep I hope other users feel the same way and that Apple can see it in their heart to correct this error, or at least give us users an option to turn this new "quick sleep" off - lets face it, 99% of people close the lid to sleep!
