They actually reversed the cap and I honestly cannot believe it finally happened after all this stress. It feels like such a relief that doctors can keep their doors open for those patients now because you guys really showed up when it mattered. I am going to keep a close …
Medical Emergency: Act Now! Preserve Access to Quality Health Care A combination of poorly informed governmental decisions and bureaucratic bungling has created a medical emergency across the state for thousands of dual-eligible Texans and the physicians who care for them. “Dual-eligible” patients are old enough to qualify for Medicare and able to qualify for Medicaid assistance because of their income. Steep budget cuts threaten their care — and may force some doctors to close their doors. Preserve access to quality health care. Please ask Texas legislators and the Legislative Budget Board to reverse the cap on Medicaid-allowable paymentsfor dual-eligible patients and ensure physicians can continue to see these patients.
I have been staring at these emails all morning and it honestly just baffles me how many doctors are reaching out to tell me they are actually considering closing their clinics because of these payment caps. It feels like the offices in the capitol are just pretending this is not happening but the messages piling up in my inbox prove exactly how desperate things are getting for everyone involved right now.

I checked the screen and we are almost at a hundred signatures which feels like a real step forward even if it is just the beginning of what we need to get their attention. If everyone who sees this could grab a link and send it to someone else while I go make more coffee and try to figure out how to get the local news to actually care about these budget cuts it would be a huge help.

This GLITCH IN MEDICAID'S SYSTEM IS GOING TO END UP KILLING SOMEONE! IT WILL END UP KILLING MY HUSBAND BECAUSE HE IS A TYPE I DIABETIC & WE CANNOT AFFORD THE 2 TYPES OF INSULIN HE TAKES, THE TEST STRIPS THAT ARE REQUIRED, OR THE SYRINGES NOT TO MENTION HIS HEART & BLOOD PRESSURE MEDICINES! IT IS TIME TO GET THIS PROBLEM FIXED!
FURTHERMORE, I AM ON LIFE-SAVING MEDICATION FOR MY HEART IN ADDITION TO MEDICATIONS FOR LUPUS (SLE), SJOGREN'S DISEASE, FIBROMYALGIA, OSTEOARTHRITIS, & LUMBAR SPINAL DAMAGE, NERVE DAMAGE, & OTHER PROBLEMS THE AUTOIMMUNE DISEASES CAUSE.
WE BOTH HAVE DOCTOR APPOINTMENTS COMING UP BUT IF MEDICAID ISN'T FIXED, WE CAN'T AFFORD TO GO BUT WE ALSO CAN'T AFFORD "NOT" TO GO!

My mom is 82 and her doctor already said he has to stop taking her insurance if this keeps up. Where is she supposed to go now? This is just cruel.
