"We recognise the distinct sense of community possessed by each of the three island areas of Western Isles, Orkney. and Shetland and that to strengthen this awareness of shared affinity, a new political settlement is required for them which acknowledges that in post-Referendum Scotland, both their needs and their status must be addressed.

"We support the case made for more powers for these islands as laid out in Our Islands, Our Future that highlighted substantial powers which could be devolved to the islands to sustain their communities and, in addition, help to reduce fuel poverty.

"We call upon the new UK government to enact the commitments made by the previous UK Government to deliver devolution to the three island communities."
