NO to Zipline in Lynwood
SUCCESS! FOR NOW THE PROPOSAL HAS BEEN DROPPED! THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT.
A commercial zipline is being proposed for a small wooded area between the quiet residential neighborhood of Blakely Heights and the Pleasant Beach Village development. See recent article in the Kitsap Sun and Bainbridge Review. The zipline/canopy tour would include 5 zipline cables, 10 aerial platforms, 4 suspension bridges and 2 elevated platforms. Concerns include noise impacts, lighting impacts, parking impacts, privacy impacts and the general incompatibility of having this kind of intensive recreational use up against the back yards of residences. The zipline/canopy business would likely require shuttling in tourists from Seattle and beyond. The applicants want to develop advertising targeting airline customers. A quote from their proposal to the city "We feel
strongly we can bring at least 4,000 visitors to our tour (in the first season) if we market our business on this scale across
the US and internationally". Is this what we want for our small community? I say no. Please join a growing coalition of Bainbridge Island residents in opposing this proposal. Sign our petition and contact city planners with your comments by December 28th.
