Edhi Foundation is a non-profit and a unique social welfare program. It was founded by Abdul Sattar Edhi in 1951 as one man operating from a single room in Karachi, Pakistan. This amazing foundation has over 300 centers across the country including centers all over the world providing 24 hour emergency assistance. The organization has held the Guinness record for world's "largest volunteer ambulance organization" since 1997. The organization also gave relief to the victims of hurricane Katrina. Some of their many services include shelter for the destitute, free hospitals, education, healthcare and orphanages. The noble and unassuming man was a living saint who has devoted his life to serve the mankind. He is worthy of recognition of his remarkable achievements specially as he is no more in this world to give his followers an inspiration to continue their work. it will leave a rare humanitarian legacy to continue long after he is gone.
