As many of you may have heard, in advance of public forums this week, a task force of district staffers, parents and community members has identified nine schools that could be closed or revamped to help the district run more efficiently. Among the list is Ortega Elementary, an exemplary campus, at risk of being closed as the AISD struggles with a budget crisis. We ask that you please support the students and educators of Ortega by signing this petition. A task force charged with finding ways to use facilities more efficiently is seeking input. Meetings will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday (01/12/2011) at the Delco Center, 4601 Pecan Brook Drive, and Thursday (01/13/2011) at Burger Center, 3200 Jones Road.
