We, the undersigned, are writing to protest the apparent decision of the Pacifica National Office to remove $100,000 from a KPFA bank account without even notifying--much less consulting--anyone at the station. We are asking that the Pacifica National Board: 1) Halt this unannounced raid on KPFA's bank accounts 2) Explicitly bar Pacifica National from making any similar raids in the future 3) Make sure the Pacifica National Office cuts its expenses down to a sustainable level, particularly since it's been asking stations to do the same. --UPDATE 8/8/09--Pacifica now says it will not actually remove any of KPFA's funds, it has "just" frozen $100,000 as collateral for a line of credit. The petition below refers to what the bank told us was an order from Pacifica to divert an additional $100,000 from KPFA's account. That much appears to be off the table for now--
