PLAINFIELD RESIDENTS’ PETITION TO GOVERNOR CHRISTIE REQUESTING INTERVENTION TO STOP THE PLAINFIELD MUNICIPAL UTILITIES AUTHORITY
The undersigned petitioners and residents of the City of Plainfield, Union County, New Jersey, encouraged by Governor Christie’s Executive Order 15 of February 2010, respectfully request that the State of New Jersey intervene to prevent the resolved action of the Plainfield Municipal Utilities Authority in paying $725,000.00 in addition to $275,000.00 already paid to two former employees who resigned in 2011. Whereas the Plainfield Municipal Utilities Authority has operated for years consistently with utter disregard for the interests of the residents of the City of Plainfield by having excessively high rates for its services; and Whereas the Mayor and Council of the City of Plainfield have for years been unwilling or unable to properly direct, control or manage the activities of the Authority and the Authority has acted with sustained contempt of the City government by failing to respond to its demands for corrective action; The undersigned residents of the City of Plainfield hereby further request that the State of New Jersey place the management of the Plainfield Municipal Utilities Authority in receivership for the benefit of the residents of the City of Plainfield.
