December of 2011, TA Travel Centers announced the opening of Statcare Medical Clinic at Exit 209 on I 71/Hwy 224. Shortly after that, the zoning inspector of Westfield Township closed the clinic citing that the area was not zoned for medical clinics...but it was for sex shops. When the zoning commission gets the paperwork, it will still take 3 or more months to get the clinic approved to re-open. The zoning commission will not have special meeting nor will they offer a short term permit so the clinic can remain open while the paperwork is done. While this is wrangled out, drivers cannot avail themselves of the clinic services.

From Ken Filbert, owner Statcare Medical Clinic.  "Our healthcare group operates clinics in several grocery store chains in Ohio and has plans to install a network of clinics in the TA locations throughout the USA. The Lodi facility was the pilot store. We offered complete healthcare services for acute illnesses, and chronic issues such as diabetic concerns, high blood pressure, etc. We also provided DOT physicals and drug testing.  Additionally, we had partnered with Discount Drug Mart to bring the prescriptions to the TA facility to make it even easier for the drivers. It is our hope that this clinic will be reopened soon, and the construction of additional facilities with TA can continue.  I feel that you drivers deserve it, you give so much to everyone, it is time that someone gives back to you."

The Seville/Lodi Ohio area has 4 major truck stops and is a major crossroads area to the east coast, thousands of truck drivers go thru the area daily, so this clinic is very needed. By collecting signatures both here online and at the clinic site in Seville Ohio at the TA, it is hoped that by a show of concerned truckers, trucker's families, carriers and trucking executives,and other people who are concerned about trucker's health and highway safety; Westfield Township will find a way to expedite the re-opening of the clinic.
