Reverse BBC decision re: DEC
THIS PETITION HAS NOW ENDED. IT HAS BEEN FORWARDED TO MARK THOMPSON OF THE BBC. MANY THANKS TO ALL SIGNATORIES OFFICIAL PETITION TO THE BBC RE: DEC The BBC have decided to not air an appeal from the Disasters and Emergencies Committee (DEC) asking for the publics help in raising funds for aid to the desperate people of Gaza The reasons they cite are 1) Difficulties in getting aid to the people of Gaza. 2) Attempting to show 'impartiality' This decision, if not reversed immediately, will deprive gaza of millions of pounds in aid and will cost hundreds, if not thousands of lives, with 40 thousand people not even having clean running water. The DEC, an umbrella group of thirteen established charities have made the decision that they can help, but the BBC have decided they know better. They say they are trying to be impartial, but one cannot imagine a greater humanitarian need at this time for the citizens of Gaza. Impartiality or averting of humanitarian disaster the BBC will be remembered for this decision. Please sign the on-line petition, and help save thousands of lives. Make your voice heard. (The petition will be presented to Mark Thompson, Director General of BBC imminently. Please e-mail link to all your friends and relatives) Thankyou.
