Deptford Park Generation Play Club (with Sensory Room) has served the local families well over the years and continues to engage local families; as a community resource it is open all year and vital in the holidays. It has a fantastic sensory room that is available to all the children but especially valuable for SEN children where a Tuesday morning is dedicated for SEN Families to meet up. The clubs do exactly what it says it on the Lewisham.Gov website description and so much more, they responsible for community cohesion in our area, our Evelyn Parents Forum group of over 130 local families continue to use this club and encourage new families we meet to use this one and Telegraph Hill (have their own on- line petition) where we have also joined their parents on trips organised by their parents which is fantastic cross community cohesion. Deptford Park and Telegraph hill are friendly social settings in the parks and are ideal for attracting those families who are disadvantaged or isolated and not accessing local Children’s services. The Club provides an opportunity for parents/carers with young children to meet other parents and for children to improve a wide range of skills by taking part in fun but educational activities especially during school holidays where children are also welcomed up to eight years old. Evelyn Parents Forum use Deptford play club as a tool for reaching out to local parents and organise events there in the holidays often loaning out equipment our group has bought from our Evelyn Assembly awarded funding. The clubs increase parent empowerment, parent networking, enhanced local community engagement and awareness of available Children's services for parents/carers with Children Under 5. We want the clubs to be saved from the cuts and for Lewisham Gov to work with parents to develop income ideas to keep the clubs open and eventually self financing.
