This petition is to those residents and road users in Eastleigh (Hampshire), who disagree with the Borough councils local draft plan to situate 1300 homes on a site at Stoneham Park, an area bordered by Stoneham Lane and Chestnut Avenue.
This area of Eastleigh is outstanding countryside, with unbroken continuity for around 2000 years, there are few other places in the United Kingdom where such unbroken continuity in the landscape can be demonstrated to the public. Couple this with the present traffic issues on Stoneham Lane and Chestnut Avenue, how can the roads cope with the increase in traffic that 1300 homes will bring?.

Reaching two hundred and fifty signatures feels like a heavy weight being lifted because it tells me I am not fighting alone. My eyes are tired from staring at these plans and the traffic reports but seeing your names keeps me tethered to this goal.

The days have been long and honestly exhausting while we fight to protect this land. We are nearing the target of 250 signatures and I need you to push this forward now to show the council we are not going anywhere.

The days feel long and the council keeps moving ahead despite our concerns. We are nearing the first hundred signatures and I need you to keep pushing this forward so they cannot ignore us when we finally present the count.

Traffic figures supplied by council misleading,indicate(seven ?) cars waiting stoneham lane roundabout,ignores existence passfield ave roundabout, also ignores number of other roundabouts within mile of this one,each has congestion,esp.M 27 access and Eastleigh access,will not accept 1100 houses could bring around 2ooo extra traffic movements a day,where do these planners live.
I played on that land when younger and fish at Smiths Pond now. Building there is pathetic it floods every time it rains.
This is a beautiful & important area for wildlife, which needs continuous corridors to thrive. It is also a valued public amenity. I regularly cycle in this area, & it already has excessive traffic, please don't add to the congestion issues by using the land for residential development.
I walk or run to work during Spring and Summer along Stoneham lane, through Stoneham Park and along Chestnut Avenue. It's the best commute a man could wish for... fresh air, woodpeckers, cattle, horses goldfinches, swifts and swallows and blackberries. This development would deprive me and many local people of accessible rural open space. In the winter I cycle to work along Stoneham Lane. This development is going to increase congestion on all surrounding roads. Stoneham Lane is not a road designed for a high volume of traffic(whether you're on a bike or in a car). There is major congestion and delays daily on Chestnut Avenue at peak times. Where is the wisdom of adding another 1300+ cars onto our crowded roads.? Say no to this development.
From my address in Magpie Lane it already takes me an hour each morning to get as far as Winchester (8 miles?). Chestnut Avenue is already a major route - even the Council organise waste collections at abnormally early hours to avoid contributing to acknowledged congestion. This development is nothing less that wreckless commercial rape of the landscape and abuse of the existing residents. Do the right thing; ABANDON this development.
Cannot be allowed to happen!
This area is far too important to have even more houses built on it.

These places are a precious part of our heritage and should be conserved, not least for future generations. I know we need more houses, but this is not the place
