Small businesses are the backbone of any community, and this small business is doing its share of enriching their community. The Antelope Valley Swap Meet at Four Points has played a vital role in the history and economy of the Antelope Valley for several decades. Not only does it provide hundreds of jobs to help people pay their bills, it has become a weekly tradition for thousands of families as a fun and affordable place to go for shopping, good food and entertainment.

The Antelope Valley Swap Meet at Four Points truly is a family affair! Family owned and operated since its creation in the mid-1970's, the Bruce family prides themselves on creating an atmosphere where families can come together and have a great time. Whether it's one of the 400+ vendors making a living, with their children by their sides, or the thousands of mothers and fathers shopping with their children and grandchildren every week, the swap meet has been an attraction that has drawn families to Palmdale from near and far.

After being in business for nearly 40 years, the City of Palmdale is now requiring the swap meet to apply for a Conditional Use Permit, that would only allow the swap meet to exist for another five years. But to get approved for those five years, they are requiring certain conditions and improvements that would be financially devastating, and could put the swap meet out of business permanently. Not only would these improvements be financially prohibitive, it would alter the rural, country atmosphere that so many people enjoy and have come to love.

The Conditional Use Permit will be presented before the Palmdale Planning Commission on July 10, 2014, for their approval. They have the discretion to modify the conditions and to extend the expiration date. We want to present them with more than 10,000 signatures showing them that the community supports the continuation of the swap meet.

The future of the swap meet is in jeopardy, so please sign this petition expressing your support and share it with your family, friends and neighbors. If you have a great story about what the swap meet means to you, or just want to share your feelings, please include it in the comments section.
