Save Our South Hill Park (SOSHP)
To: The Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt MP, Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport, & Alan Davey, Chief Executive, Arts Council England I wish to voice my protest that South Hill Park Arts Centre, Bracknell, Berkshire, has been excluded from the National Portfolio, thus threatening its stability. As well as being a centre of extreme value and importance for the local community and surrounding areas, South Hill Park is highly respected as a venue that attracts the most exciting theatre companies and emerging artists, both nationally and internationally, creating a passion for the Arts that all can aspire to. Generations have benefited from South Hill Park over the past 40 years. The actions of the Arts Council have now put at risk this shining example of the Big Society with its accessible art presented by professionals and the community in close co-operation. The geographical spread of the National Portfolio has left the people of East Berkshire seriously disadvantaged in terms of accessing the Arts. I strongly urge you to ensure that there is no reduction in future funding for this vital Arts Centre. Reconsider your decision: include South Hill Park in the National Portfolio.
