Save Doncaster Libraries.

We, the undersigned, oppose Doncaster Council's proposed closure of fourteen branch libraries, cuts to stock and facilities budgets and paid library staff. We believe the proposals to reduce library services are purely motivated by a cost-cutting agenda and will impact significantly on the standard of services delivered to Doncaster's residents. We have no faith in the current management of the service to deliver a professional and vibrant library service. We believe the cuts to the library service are disproportionate and in breach of the Public Libraries and Museums Act 1964 and call upon Doncaster Metropolitan Council to reject these cuts, and request that the Department for Culture, Media and Sport conduct an inquiry into the legality of the cuts.
