Save Southlands - Again!
To the Members of the House of Commons, Bermuda.
The petition of the undersigned visitors, residents and
citizens of Bermuda declares that after a long campaign by
Bermuda's public, the Government of Bermuda offered and on
1 April 2008 signed an agreement to exchange the 37 acre
near-pristine Southlands property for 80 acres at Morgan’s
Point with the expressed purpose of saving Southland from
hotel construction and preserving it as protected
conservation lands and public park, and instead building
the hotel that had been planned for Southlands on Morgan’s
Point.
That agreement is in danger of being broken.
Therefore we, the undersigned, petition the Premier, the
Cabinet and the Members of Bermuda’s Parliament to
complete the promised land swap of Southlands and Morgan's
Point so that Southlands can become a protected public
parkland.
