Tennent's Bar on Byres Road, Glasgow is under threat of redevelopment by brewery Mitchell & Butler are planning to close it as a real pub and turn it into a restaurant /gastro pub. Sometimes all you want is a pub where everybody knows your name. This is increasingly difficult to find in Glasgow's West End as style bar after wine bar or gastro pub pops up. Thank god then, for Tennents. Okay, maybe not everybody in Tennents knows your name, but you will quickly feel at home in Byres Road's only proper "local pub" where the friendly staff and manager Alison pour pints efficiently with a smile. Whether you want to watch the football on the pub's many television screens or just curl up in the almost as plentiful snug little corners with a newspaper, Tennents offers everything, including an extensive real ale menu and top notch pub grub, including the best steak pie in Glasgow. This is now under serious threat, there will be real pubs left on Byres Road.
