This Is A Serious

Petition!!

It is my belief, along with many other hunters’, that we Pennsylvanians should be allowed to hunt with semi-automatic rifles. There are many benefits to hunting with semis. One benefit is decreased recoil experienced by the shooter. Adding on that benefit, the decreased recoil results in increased accuracy since the shooter is no longer thinking of recoil. A third benefit is a more rapid follow up shot in the case of multiple game targets, such as coyotes and fox. The AR-15 platform rifle is a very versatile platform for hunting. It is incredibly accurate, and easily modified to suit the game species being pursued. There are many different calibers offered, and pulling two pins in the receiver can quickly change from a small game/varmint caliber to a big game caliber. There is also the rifles that were designed with hunters in mind, such as Remington 7400, Browning BAR, and Benelli R1. These firearms have a legitimate place in the hunting community. Title 34, section 2308 (2) needs to be changed immediately. There are many states that allow hunting with semis, and PA is one of the few that doesn’t. Washington dropped their semi-auto ban on 2/19/2010 and Maryland dropped their ban on 2/22/2010. Semis are not more powerful than any other rifle out there, and are actually based on short action calibers. In the states that do allow hunting with semis, they haven’t experienced any heightened hunting accidents because of the so called “spray and pray” method that the media says will happen. I urge you to reconsider this regulation and open a bill that, if passed, legalizes the hunting use of semi-automatic rifles.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I was looking at the total sitting there and honestly it is just crazy that we are almost at five hundred people who want to see these laws finally change. If everyone reading this could just get one person they hunt with to click that button right now we would blow past that mark before I even get my coffee finished because honestly the momentum is the only thing that makes them listen to us anyway.

We are getting dangerously close to that hundred signature mark and I honestly think it would freak the committee out if we hit it by tonight. I was just looking at the gear I want to take out this season because the recoil on these bolt actions is killing my shoulder lately and we really have to get this done. If you know anyone else who loves the versatility of the platform just send the link over to them right now so we can stop dragging our feet.

I feel semi autos have thier place hunting large and small game.. There should at least be an option with limited magazine capacity.

the hunting rules banning semi auto rifles is archaic and ill logical. You could use a double rifle with has the capability of a much faster follow up shot than any semi in existence. they are just too expensive for the average hunter. In effect the law is saying if you are rich enough you can have what amounts to a semi auto rifle to hunt in pa

With the State of Pennsylvania wanting to increase coyote harvest, we should be allowed to employ semi-auto rifles for quick follow-up shots when multiple predators may be in the area.
