We've had a big daft horse and a fairy statue...how about a sea serpent...and this one actually makes sense!

The Kempock Stone in Gourock and the Serpent Mound in Skelmorlie are ancient sites where human sacrifices were made to appease the river gods for safe passage across the Clyde. Not only that, but as everyone knows, a big sea monster washed up on the shore of Cardwell Bay in 1942.

People always talk it about tourism round here, Loch Ness makes a bomb out of having a monster that hardly anyone ever sees. They have a statue up there. We could have one too.

Here are some of the places we think it could go

- behind the statue of the wee girl in Gourock as if its about to eat her

- at Lunderston Bay next to the playpark, maybe with a chute included in its tail

- at the space between Cardwell Bay and the Battery Park just at the side of the road, the wee cafe could do a special flavour of green ice cream to celebrate

- beside Newark Castle to scare off unwary travellers

- outside Boots

We would have a schools competition to decide on the design for the monster and make it with local companies.
