Cuts to Southwark's fire service
This petition was submitted on Thursday 18 July by Leader of the Council Cllr Peter John and Cabinet Member for Community Safety Richard Livingstone.
Thank you to everyone who signed this petition.
Southwark Council opposes the planned cuts to the local fire service as set out in the Draft Fifth London Fire Safety Plan. The Mayor of London’s fire authority is proposing:
• A 32% reduction in the number of firefighters in Southwark
• The closure of Southwark fire station
• A reduction in thefirefighters and equipment at Peckham
We believe these cuts will seriously affect the fire brigade’s ability to prevent and fight fires in Southwark. Please sign our petition today and help us prevent these brutal plans from going ahead.
Thank you,
Cllr Richard Livingstone, Cabinet Member for Community Safety
Cllr Peter John, Leader of the Council
