The undersigned wish to make it known to the Natural History Museum in London that we are deeply opposed to their proposed research expedition, which would take 60 people into an area of virgin forest (the Dry Chaco) inhabited by uncontacted indigenous groups of Ayoreo people.
The expedition poses a serious risk of contact with the isolated peoples in the area, which could result in violent attacks, death through disease transmission, loss of land, of culture and of autonomy.
The proposed expedition also contravenes both national laws and UN guidelines relating to external presence in territories of isolated peoples and is an invasion into the heart of the Ayoreo territory.
The Ayoreo are one of the most threatened people in the world. Their territory has been devastated by deforestation and their culture destroyed by missionaries.
The area of forest the expedition targets is their last remaining refuge, and we believe that their wish to be left there in peace should be upheld.
We believe that leaders or representatives of the Ayoreo people should have been consulted or informed about the proposed expedition.
We believe that the Museum should respond to their expressed wish that the expedition does not go ahead (click for video) should be respected and the expedition canceled immediately.

Los que firman abajo desean comunicar al Museo de Historia Natural de Londres que se oponen a la expedición que planean, en la cual alrededor de 60 personas entrarán en un área de bosque virgen en el Chaco paraguayo, habitado por grupos indígenas ayoreo aislados (sin contacto con nuestra civilización).
Esta expedición presenta un serio riesgo de contacto con los grupos aislados de esa zona, lo que podría ocasionar ataques violentos, muerte por transmisión de enfermedades, pérdida de territorio, cultura y autonomía. También viola leyes nacionales y disposiciones de las Naciones Unidas relacionadas a la presencia de actores externos en territorios de grupos aislados.
Los grupos de Ayoreo aislados son los últimos fuera de la cuenca del Amazonas, y están entre los 5 grupos indígenas más amenazados del mundo.
El área a ser visitada por los científicos es su último refugio y creemos que su deseo a no ser disturbados debe ser respetado.
Creemos que los líderes y representantes ayoreo debieron ser consultados o informados de la expedición propuesta.
Creemos que el Museo debe respetar el deseo ayoreo de que la expedición no sea realizada (enlace lleva a vídeo) y cancelar la expedición inmediatamente.

La gente Ayoreo merece respeto y su territorio se debe proteger de intrusos. Por favor cancelen esto.
This is completely wrong. Leave them alone in their own home. We have done enough damage already.
Why do they need to go there?? Just leave these people alone. Its their land and they deserve to live in peace.
We need to protect the last isolated tribes. Disease would wipe them out so easy. Just stay away.
SHAME on the museum for even thinking about this. STOP the expedition now.
