The Cardinal has formally acknowledged our appeal for the protection of priests who teach orthodox doctrine. This positive resolution proves that clarity and persistence hold weight within the Church. We will remain observant to ensure this commitment to open discussion remains consistent.

We, Christ's faithful, respectfully call upon Cardinal Vincent Nichols to support our priests when they speak up for the orthodox teaching and practice of the Church. Pope Francis has called on everyone in the Church to engage in a free and open discussion in preparation for the Synod. Let's use all the means of communication available to us in the 21st century to do just that. I have been reviewing the thoughtful comments shared by those who signed this petition. These reflections underscore a genuine desire for pastoral clarity and open dialogue within the Church. I am currently preparing to communicate our position to the relevant offices to ensure these perspectives are formally acknowledged.

It is an honour to append my signature to the 461 priests and mearly 1000 lay persons who have shown the courage to speak up in defense of the orthodox practice of the Church. I am a university professor form the U.S.A.

I am immensely proud to see that so many faithful priests - including priests from my own parish - have the courage to speak out on behalf of the eternal sacramental truths of the Catholic Faith that comes tot us from the Apostles, and is expressed clearly in the words of Our Lord Himself.

We need strong pastors to stand against the tide of moral relativism and uphold Our Lord's teaching, we also need our leaders including Cardinals to stand with them not attack them. This is not the time for equivocation.

We, the laity, look to our priests and prelates to show strong leadership when the truths of the Faith are under attack from both within and without the Church. It is disappointing that Cardinal Nichols appears unwilling to stand with these Faithful 500. God bless them, one and all.

These are courageous priests who are willing to boldly proclaim the Truth of the Church's teachings. They are following the example laid out by Sts. John the Baptist, Thomas More and John Fisher. They should not be silenced by one who seems to follow the example of Cardinal Wolsley.

Pope Francis has called on everyone in the Church to engage in a free and open discussion in preparation for the Synod. Let's use all the means of communication available to us in the 21st century to do just that, with no attempts by bishops to stop this free discussion
