SUPPORT RENTALS AT RULAND

We, the undersigned Huntington residents and/or representatives of non-profits serving the Town, support affordable rental housing at Ruland Knolls in Melville because as the Town of Huntington's Comprehensive Plan states, "choices for quality, affordable rental housing are...limited." We are concerned about the young people, working families and senior citizens who are moving away to find affordable rentals elsewhere. As a 2013 LICF/Ford Foundation study concluded, "The shortage of affordable rental homes is already straining Long Island's economy, and will make it much harder to compete for jobs in the years ahead."
