If you live in the Western Isles of Scotland you will have been angered by the continual fuel increases over recent years. Despite the late introduction of a fuel duty rebate of 5p per litre the price has increased to negate this and the differential between Island and Mainland prices seems to have returned to it's pre-rebate level. In Stornoway we have a choice of 3 filling stations whose prices vary little between each other as they are all supplied by Scottish Fuels. We have a Tesco supermarket who issues us with worthless 5p/litre off vouchers which we can't use. What is really needed is for Tesco to open a filling station in Stornoway (or take one over!) so we can actually see some real competition and make use of the vouchers. Sign up for this petition if you support Tesco opening a filling station in Stornoway to provide fuel at prices that their Mainland customers can already benefit from.
