Stop the hotel development in West Kirby
Plans for the West Kirby Hotel (on Dee Lane Car Park) and new sailing school known as "the sail” have now been finalised by Carpenter Investments (CI). Wirral council's cabinet gave CI another 6 months to complete financial planning on the 23rd of April 2009. The hotel will be four storeys high with 45 beds, a spa, restaurant, cinema and three bars including an open air roof top terrace. Yet it will only have a maximum of 90 onsite parking spaces, for 50 staff and hundreds of customers. To allow the hotel to be developed CI plan to use the marine lake car park (which floods often) for 80 pay and display spaces, lake users are relegated to 30 reserved spaces. CI will profit from pay and display parking, clearly the operation of the hotel has a higher priority than the marine lake, that it was supposed to regenerate. Crosby marine lake has been redeveloped with public funds. The hotel will be out of scale with the surrounding residential streets, and will require the use of all proposed parking spaces. If you are against this hotel, sign up now and tell all your friends. If you only want to object to the marine lake parking and you use the lake see www.iwindsurf.co.uk for a comletely independant petition.
