You Act or We Act (YAOWA)
We, the undersigned, recognize that the Congress of the
United States has been unable to make the necessary fiscal (spending and
revenue) decisions to reduce the long-term deficit and to improve the
employment situation. We believe that this threatens the position of our
country as a world leader and places the future of our children in peril.
We understand that the only way forward is a combination of
long-term spending cuts including entitlements, increased revenues and a short-term
stimulus to reduce unemployment.
Compromises must come from both political parties and the intellectual
debate must be comprehensive and honest. The profound differences in the
approach of the two political parties should not be a hindrance but instead
should serve as the foundation for a great debate. We believe that the only road to follow is one
that runs somewhere down the middle and we insist that the members of Congress
find this path.
In the past, 90% of incumbents have been reelected. Yet, the
current national sentiment survey shows that only 12% of the American people
believe congress is doing a good job. We believe this sentiment is real and
powerful. We, the undersigned, are stating that we promise to act upon this
sentiment unless Congress passes a large-scale compromise plan to help our
country move forward.
We, the undersigned, will forgo any of our party alliances
and promise that we will NOT VOTE FOR
ANY INCUMBENT HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVE MEMBER IN OUR DISTRICT, NOR AN INCUBENT SENATOR
unless a large scale compromise is produced
and passed into legislation before the November 2012 elections.
To our current elected federal government
representatives: We, the people, sent
you to Washington. Should your inaction
continue, we will send you home.
We say simply: “You Act or We Act” (YAOWA)
