Northorpe Hall Child & Family Trust is an independent charity supporting children and young people whose mental health is at risk.

The counselling service is funded by Kirklees Council and PCT, and they pay for 200 children and young people to get free, short term, high quality counselling to help them deal with the challenges and difficulties they face.

In 2010, the service had 700 referrals, and thanks to the charity raising more funds, it was able to helpa priority 400 young people. However all funding is coming to an end on 1 April 2011.

The Council puts in just £27,000 a year. Without the Council funding, the PCT may not add their £44,000 a year.

Without this funding it will be impossible to retain the quality staff and counsellors currently running the service. The service works - 80% say it improved their lives. Young people score it 9 out of 10.

It's excellent value for money, and prevents long term problems.

Please sign this petition if you think the Council should provide funding for the service in 2011.
