* This petition is to educate and inform Cobb County Parents about the new Standards-Based Report Card that has been implemented in Kindergarten through Second grade. The current plan calls for implementation to all grade levels in the future. * The report card is a standard based report card. The grades are assessed as follows: 1-Limited or minimum progress toward meeting the standard 2-Progressing toward meeting the standard 3-Consistently meeting the standard. * The Report Card leaves NO room for children to achieve excellence. *This Standard Based System does not benefit the overachiever or the underachiever. It does not incent students on either end of the educational spectrum to strive for anything more than meeting the standard. We in Cobb County expect more from our children and their education. ** Please join us in signing this petition to let the Cobb County School Board know how strongly we feel about our children's education. We must maintain the superior standard that Cobb County has consistently achieved in the past and incent our students to always strive for excellence.
