There’s an apple emoji. There’s a watermelon emoji. There’s a lemon emoji. But even with all these delicious fruits, there’s a big California-sized hole in the emoji keyboard. We want a California Avocado emoji to fill it.

Unicode Consortium, a nonprofit in charge of regulating the coding standards for written computer text (including emojis!), announced the avocado as one of the 63 emoji character candidates for 2016.

“FINALLY!” we collectively exclaimed. Because adding California Avocado to anything makes it infinitely better, and emojis are no exception.

Think about it:

The egg emoji + a California Avocado emoji + a question mark = the easiest brunch invitation ever.

The sunset emoji + a California Avocado emoji + a question mark = a first date sure to lead to a second, a third, etc.

So become an avocado advocate by signing this petition, and we’ll personally send it over to Unicode to help push them in the ripe direction.
