KEEP FT. De Russy Volleyball courts Open

The Hale Koa Hotel is planning a year-long or longer renovation of the Barefoot Bar and pool areas starting in January 2018. However, the contractor is going to store its equipment on the two beach volleyball courts on the Hale Koa property, effectively closing the only two permanent courts in Waikiki for 2018.

This petition is also to prevent the permanent closure of the court forever.

These two volleyball courts are the home to a wonderful community of people. These volleyball courts are a safe and welcome environment place to a thousands of people including military personnel.

This is also an avenue for some of the military groups who utilize the volleyball games and exercises for health reasons.

Active, reserves, dependents of military of all branches from all over the world focus their vacation playing volleyball and hanging out at the courts. Many local military, residents and civilians also spend their holidays here. This is a special and unique family community. These courts are more than just a place to play beach volleyball. They are the hub of a close-knit community.

This community includies civilians, retirees, and many of those who served our country. this also help contribute to the Hale Koa revenue. They spend thousands of dollars at the the snack bars, Bibas Bar, Barefoot bar, luau and parking. Many of active duties military volleyball players play a big part of the revenue by choosing Hale Koa Hotel as their vacation accommodation.

Instead of storing equipment on the two courts, we are simply asking the Hale Koa and the contractor to find an alternative location for storage. There is ample underutilized space on the Hale Koa's 72-acre property that could be used without
