Stop the CUSD Sewer Plant! Keep our Neighborhood Clean!
Clovis Unified
School District is planning their new school site, the Terry Bradley
Educational Center, located at Highland and Clinton Avenue. Without any
community input, they have decided to build their sewer plant directly across
the street from the new school.
According to experts who have designed similar facilities, certain considerations must be taken into account when building a sewer plant.
Clovis Unified’s proposal ignores all considerations as follows:
- The plant is proposed upwind of neighbors.
- There is not a 500–1000-foot buffer between the nearest existing residence and planned location of the plant. When future homes are built, as currently planned, the distance between these homes and the sewer facility will be less than 100 feet.
- The odorous facilities, like effluent ponds, are planned closest to the homes that will be built beside it.
- The percolation ponds, as proposed, are uncovered and will not reduce odor impacts for neighbors and students.
Clovis Unified needs to hear the community's input and listen to the CUSD families. Your children do not deserve to attend school across the street from a large industrial sewer facility.
