The Islander Condominium Owners Petition
Dear Islander Unit Owner,
As you may have heard, the Board of Directors of the Islander HOA recently circulated a notice indicating the need for a special assessment of approximately $20,000 per unit.
A majority of unit owners have indicated that a non-emergency special assessment of such magnitude is something that needs to be discussed openly and transparently with greater opportunity for input from unit owners, and that a series of webinars or “teleconferences” is not the appropriate format for such a discussion.
Additionally, many owners have also indicated concern about the timing of such expenditures, given the fact that the nation is in a state of financial and economic crisis, and many people are not working and thus not earning.
As such, by signing the petition below, we ask that the Islander HOA Board of Directors:
- Not sign ANY new contracts (including contracts related to the special assessment R.I.P. Project) other than those required for routine property maintenance until after the Annual Owners meeting
- Cancel the scheduled “series of teleconferences” in relation to the R.I.P. project
- Reschedule the Annual Owners Meeting to September 2020 as discussed in the last board meeting when owners have an opportunity to attend, offer input and ask questions in-person about the R.I.P Project
