We, the undersigned residents of Sereno Grove, are concerned about a recent proposal by two HOA board members to install a congregation area and 12-foot hedge in our front yard. We believe this decision poses significant risks and violates the spirit of our community.
- Child Safety: Our utmost concern is the safety of our young children, all under six years old. Recent events, including an accident resulting in flooding and damage, highlight our concerns. An analysis of 12 hours of daytime traffic revealed that only 24% of drivers obey stop signs at the Nicholas Way and Liesl Ct juncture. The proposed hedge would reduce our the visibility of our children from 249ft to 45ft, diminishing driver reaction time from 8.49 seconds to under 1.74 seconds.
- Privacy: We worry that the proposed gathering area could attract outside vendors, contractors, and individuals, jeopardizing our privacy and safety. Without oversight on the backgrounds of these individuals (sex offender status, criminal history, morals), we believe our community's "reasonable expectation" to privacy is at risk. The end of Nicholas Way and our front yard was never intended as a gathering point.
- Procedural Concerns: We have concerns about the lack of transparency and proper procedure in this project's approval. Two board members have silenced our concerns in a public voting forum and, in our opinion, have falsified information and misled the community. This undermines our trust in the HOA board.
- Property Values: This project threatens to negatively impact property values and potentially exposes the community to legal complications. We believe that unilateral decisions by the board can affect any homeowner in Sereno Grove.
We urge you to support our petition to encourage the HOA board to reconsider this project and engage in open and transparent dialogue with the community. We believe in finding a solution that benefits the entire Sereno Grove community while upholding our covenants and contracts.
Thank you for your consideration of our family and the community! -Kerri & Michael F.
