Stop the Pink Slip!
To, Mr. Pramod Bhasin Chairman, NASSCOM International Youth Centre Teen Murti Marg Chanakyapuri New Delhi 110 021 Phone: 91-11- 2301 0199 Dear Sir, I am an IT/BPO/ Call center/ ITES employee, sincere tax payer working for self, family directly and contributing to the society indirectly. I’m on the radar, now, of the evils of recession called ‘pink slips’, ‘layoffs’, ‘low performer’ etc. Companies are saving self and sustaining through downsizing. Once put on the lower strata of performance I become the most insecure employee as I’m not only vulnerable to loosing job but also to have no market value. I therefore request the NASSCOM to consider following demands and protect the sector: a. Unscientific/Biased Performance evaluation should not be considered as an indicator for layoff (as recession itself hinders performance) b. Pink slips should not be given unless sustainability of company becomes impossible (as most companies have no or very less debts & Govt Bail out packages, no tax etc etc) c. If the projected growth has to be achieved in the sector the employers should use this opportunity to enhance skill of the employees.
