Support Canada's C-27 Anti-spam Legislation
Well-heeled lobbyists from the Canadian Marketing Association and Canadian Bankers Association are trying to convince our lawmakers to gut key elements of Bill C-27, the proposed anti-spam/malware/spyware legislation, and render it ineffective. This petition will be sent to Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Industry Minister Tony Clement, and the leaders of the opposition parties to convince them to keep the bill 'as is'. We, the undersigned feel strongly that Bill C-27 is desperately needed and contrary to the assertions of some special interests, is both pro-business and pro-consumer. Stopping spam helps senders and recipients of email. We are puzzled by the stance of some industry lobbyists, who seek to create loopholes that will render this law ineffective, and undoubtedly be exploited by the criminals who spam us daily, and who distribute spyware and viruses using spam. We encourage you all to pass the bill in its present form, for the protection of all Canadian users of email.
