Protect Patient & Physician Rights-Bring Accountability & Transparency to the Texas Medical Board
Update:
On June, 2018, Sunset Staff submits Report with Commission Decisions, 2018-2019 86th Legislature. https://www.sunset.texas.gov/public/uploads/files/...
On May 24th, 2018 the Sunset Commission approved all but two of the recommendations supported by this petition. The two recommendations were not approved given that the Sunset Commission was not the appropriate avenue for these items but were clearly supported in their importance and that legislation should be pursued in 2019. This petition continues to gather support for all these recommendations to show support for upcoming legislation in 2019.
Original Petition Wording:
We ask for Texas Sunset Commission members to approve the New Issues Previously Adopted by Sunset Commission and the Proposed New Recommendations from the Decision Meeting Material for the May 24th Sunset Commission Hearing. Our hope is that these recommendations will result in much needed law changes in 2019.
Changes that:
- Promote healthcare freedom through improvements to the Medical Practice Act
- Improve access to innovative, lifesaving treatment options sought after by patients
- Protect constitutional rights for physicians and their patients
- Provide fair and proper due process for physicians
- Provide oversight and accountability of the Texas Medical Board
We support
and stand with Senators Dawn Buckingham, Bob Hall and Kirk Watson and
Representatives Dan Flynn and Poncho Nevarez and their bipartisan support of
the recommendations submitted to the Sunset Commission. (See pages 10-13 of the Decision Material - https://www.sunset.texas.gov/public/uploads/u97/De...)
Health freedom for Texas is not just for Texans but for all patients seeking care from Texas physicians and healthcare providers. Let's make Texas a true health freedom state to provide innovative treatments to heal diseases with education and therapies to prevent illnesses.
