FROM: The Concerned Members of FCCV and Filipino Community in VIC
We, the concerned members of the Filipino Community Council of VIC Inc. (FCCVI) along with the concerned Filipinos, Entrepreneurs, and other Filipino-Australian Associations in Victoria decry the ongoing dispute between your group and the party of Ms. Marithess Dumapias over the leadership of FCCVI.
We are in doubt as to the credibility, validity and fairness of your March 10 Elections after which you now claim to be the newly Elected Officers of FCCVI.
We are deeply disturbed that the ongoing dispute between the two parties will permanently divide the community and cause irreparable damage to the integrity of the Filipino Community in the eyes of the Government Funding Bodies providing Aged Care Grants, Victoria Police and the Banking Sector.
If your group truly has the interest of the Filipino Community in VIC, most specially the Elderly and those with Special Needs as your utmost priority rather than your own personal or political/group interests; then we enjoin your group to participate in an “Independently-run” Interim Elections. We encourage your group to return to the mediation table and open your minds, your hearts and your communication lines and continue the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) Order for compulsory mediation.
There is no room for power struggle and pride as these will further jeopardize the interests of the entire Filipino Community in Victoria. We seek an honest, fair and impartial discussion between the two parties with the purpose of obtaining a peaceful resolution to this problem.
Good leaders unite people and seek prompt and fair resolutions to grievances and disputes. There is no room for pride or prejudices if we are to move forward to a united and progressive Filipino Community in Victoria. Respect is earned by exhibiting trust and confidence in mutual cooperation. May your decisions be guided in God’s Spirit and direction.
