WHEREAS Indiana has a signature requirement for the candidacy to the federal offices of Senator and President; and
WHEREAS Indiana has a signature requirement for the candidacy to the office of Governor of Indiana,
WHEREAS a candidate should demonstrate their ability to work to get elected;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that We the Undersigned, believe that it should be the position of the Indiana Democratic Party that all candidates for United States Congress in Indiana should obtain a minimum of 200 signatures from the congressional district for which they are seeking office; and,
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that We the Undersigned, urge our Democratic State House members, State Senate members, and Democratic Governor and Lieutenant Governor should make it a priority to enact legislation that requires a two hundred signature threshold from the congressional district in which a candidate seeks office; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that We the Undersigned, urgethat until such legislation is in place, County, District, and State Party officials work in conjunction to require a two hundred-signature threshold in order to receive any Democratic Party Endorsement.
